An inspirational conference in Paris celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD2024) saw leading women, jurists, and women’s rights advocates from 28 countries expressing their support for the struggle of Iranian women for freedom, democracy, and equality. The NCRI Women’s Committee sponsored this event at the Mutualité Conference Center.

In a powerful display of solidarity for women’s rights, the recently concluded International Women’s Day event hosted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) garnered global attention. The keynote speaker, NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi, delivered a compelling address underscoring the indispensable role of women in the fight against dictatorship and the pursuit of genuine equality.

Rajavi passionately emphasized the inseparable connection between the struggle against religious tyranny and the quest for equality. Drawing upon the Iranian Resistance’s experience, she highlighted the pivotal role of women and men in combating oppressive regimes. Specifically addressing Iran’s awakened women, especially the younger generation, Rajavi urged them to lead the charge against oppression, poverty, and exploitation.

“The salvation of millions of Iranian women lies in your hands,” she declared, calling for a resounding rejection of compulsory hijab, imposed religion, and authoritarian governance. Rajavi boldly vowed to overthrow the oppressive Velayat-e Faqih regime, assuring that the era of inequality and oppression against Iranian women would come to an end.

Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, Chair of the NCRI Women’s Committee, welcomed participants to the event, highlighting the shared vision for a future marked by equality and devoid of discrimination. She underscored the pivotal role of Iranian women in the resistance movement, commending their courage against the regime’s brutal repression over the past four decades.

Chitsaz recalled the historical significance of the NCRI’s Plan on Women’s Freedoms and Rights, released in 1987, predating the Fourth World Congress on Women in Beijing by eight years. This plan has been a cornerstone of the movement, emphasizing the enduring commitment to gender equality under Mrs. Rajavi’s leadership.

The conference made a profound impact by announcing a declaration signed by over 400 prominent women globally in support of Iranian women’s right to rebel against tyranny. The signatories, including former ministers, Nobel laureates, human rights experts, and other influential figures, demonstrated a united front in advocating for the empowerment and liberation of Iranian women.
