In a shocking cybersecurity breach on February 13, the dissident group GhiamSarnegouni successfully targeted 600 servers belonging to the Iranian regime’s Parliament.

The aftermath of this breach exposed a treasure trove of classified information on Telegram and X accounts. The leaked documents shed light on the Iranian regime’s intricate web of military influence over the legislative branch, strategically shaping decisions and maintaining a stronghold on the nation’s economy.

Among the disclosed files are confidential documents and communications between the Parliament Speaker and high-ranking military and security commanders. These unveil explicit requests for augmented budgets for the armed forces, with a particular focus on the Quds Force and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence and Protection organizations.

One document, marked “very confidential,” addressed the allocation of foreign currency to strengthen defense infrastructure, requesting €3 billion from the military budget in foreign currency. Another seven-page document titled “Distribution of Resources for the year 2023 among the Armed Forces Organizations” outlined budgetary allocations for the Armed Forces. Notably, it emphasized the Quds Force’s inclusion in the government’s total defense budget and requested additional allocations for the defense infrastructure of the Revolutionary Guards.

The disclosed details further revealed a comprehensive breakdown of the defense budget, amounting to 138,100 billion tomans in the Budget Law.

The General Staff and the Khatam Base received a significant share, totaling nearly 301 trillion tomans. Notably, the military budget also encompassed allocations for various projects, such as the “Makran Coast Development.”

This unprecedented breach not only exposes the inner workings of Iran’s military funding but also highlights the monopolization of foreign policy by the IRGC and the Office of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The revelations underscore the extent to which military commanders exert pressure on the Parliament for financial support, shaping the country’s defense priorities and strategies.
