This movement spans across the political spectrum, disavowing both the bygone era of the Shah and the current theocratic regime in Iran. These parliamentarians are rallying behind the call for a secular and democratic republic in Iran. Central to their endorsement is the implementation of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan during the transitional phase. Mrs. Rajavi, known as the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a coalition of democratic opposition forces, is a pivotal figure in this transition. Her plan envisages a future Iran that upholds principles such as free elections, gender equality, and the separation of religion from the state.
The list of notable signatories is a testament to the broad support for this cause. It includes a Minister of State, five Parliamentary State Secretaries, several former Federal Ministers and State Secretaries, chairmen of four Bundestag committees, numerous committee members, the SPD General Secretary, and the former chairman of the Left Party’s parliamentary group.
Moreover, the signatories, exceeding 550 members from the Bundestag and federal states, condemn the Iranian regime’s disruptive actions in the Middle East and Europe, labeling these as terrorist activities. They are calling for international solidarity with the Iranian people’s aspirations for change.
This declaration is not isolated; it echoes the sentiments of over 3,600 parliamentarians from various countries, including majorities in France and Italy.
These international leaders have similarly expressed their support for the Iranian people’s quest for a democratic regime. The focus now turns to how these declarations will translate into tangible support and policy actions on the global stage, aiming to bring about a peaceful and democratic transition in Iran.
