On November 16, a conference was held in the Australian Parliament in Canberra, marking the
fourth anniversary of Iran’s November 2019 uprising.

The event, organized by the Australian Supporters of Democracy in Iran, witnessed the convergence of Australian parliamentary representatives and various community members to remember the fallen of the nationwide uprising and to decry the Iranian clerical regime’s human rights abuses and destabilizing
regional interventions.

Key Australian political figures, including Senator Matt O’Sullivan, Senator David
Shoebridge, and MPs Rowan Ramsey and Susan Templeman, joined the event, alongside Peter
Murphy and representatives from the Iranian community and medical professionals. They
collectively voiced their support for democracy in Iran and condemnation of the regime’s
actions.

A poignant message from Iranian opposition President-elect Maryam Rajavi of the National
Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), underscored the session. She highlighted the Iranian
regime’s longstanding role in destabilizing the Middle East, including allegations of plotting
against Palestinian leaders and exporting terrorism. Rajavi emphasized the regime’s reliance
on oppression, warmongering, and nuclear ambitions for its survival. She criticized the socalled “Iran Expert Initiative” for spreading misinformation and urged for firm global policies
against the Iranian regime.

Mr. Murphy , pointed out Iran’s role in financing and arming terrorist proxies in various Middle Eastern countries, using religious misinterpretations to justify these
actions. MP Rowan Ramsey reflected on the deteriorating situation in Iran since his last address,
empathizing with those affected by the regime’s repression. He called for concerted efforts to
oppose such brutality in Iran and the Gaza Strip.

Senator Matt O’Sullivan advocated for stronger sanctions against Iranian leaders and proposed
designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, seeking
bipartisan support for this initiative.
