As the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) commemorated its 58th foundation day on Wednesday, Resistance Units, the internal network of PMOI activists in Iran, celebrated across the nation, showcasing their defiance against the oppressive regime.
A proud member from the Resistance Units in Rasht commented, “The PMOI’s tireless struggle against both the shah and mullahs’ tyranny spans over 58 years. Our unwavering resolve remains intact, and we will persevere until this wicked regime is overthrown. Heartfelt congratulations to Massoud Rajavi, Maryam Rajavi, and the entire Iranian populace on this significant milestone.”
In the capital city of Tehran, the resistance marked the day by releasing videos showcasing members proudly holding banners adorned with PMOI’s emblem and images of its founding members.
One such member stated with conviction, “The PMOI signifies hope for Iran’s bright future. Dedicated wholly to our nation’s liberty, this organization stands as the cornerstone of Iranian freedom. Today, as we remember the PMOI’s foundation, every Iranian should take immense pride, especially us, the Resistance Units.”
This fervor wasn’t confined to the capital alone. Celebrations erupted across cities like Karaj, Mashhad, Shiraz, and many others, where Resistance Units exhibited their allegiance by holding PMOI banners and portraits of the Iranian Resistance’s stalwarts, Massoud Rajavi and NCRI’s president-elect, Maryam Rajavi.
A passionate declaration came from Shush, where a member stated, “Note my name; I am a representative of PMOI. We oppose any dictator, whether it’s the shah or the mullahs.”
In a powerful message from Tabriz, a member remarked from a historically significant location, “This very street bore witness to the birth of Mohammad Hanifnejad, a notable figure of the previous century, and the foundation of PMOI in 1965. Today, we celebrate 58 years of relentless struggle against oppressive dictatorships.”
Amidst these celebrations, it’s evident that the regime is threatened. While the Resistance Units bolster the spirit of revolt, the regime desperately tries to instill fear and thwart protests, especially on the anniversary of the 2022 uprising.
These brave activists, despite facing life-threatening situations, especially for their association with the PMOI, have been at the forefront of nationwide protests against the regime’s heinous acts. This fear is evident as regime officials have repeatedly expressed their concerns over the growing influence of the PMOI.
Apart from exerting undue pressure on political detainees sympathetic to PMOI, the regime, in a bid to mislead, has been disseminating fabricated news regarding PMOI members overseas. A recent judicial order even seeks to prosecute 104 MEK members. However, the regime’s strategy of discouraging the youth from joining the PMOI appears to have backfired.
Evidently, the undying spirit of resistance in Iran, as showcased by the Resistance Units, remains indomitable, no matter how hard the regime tries to suppress it.
