Prominent attorney Kenneth Lewis, a longtime advocate for the Iranian Resistance, joined a roster of high-profile speakers at the international conference held at the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) headquarters on July 3.

With over two decades of experience defending Iranian Resistance members, Lewis has significant insight into the regime’s atrocities.

Lewis, who helped delist the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organization, highlighted the crucial trial of a former Iranian official for his involvement in the 1988 massacre, currently being held in the Stockholm District Court. He applauded the relentless efforts of the Iranian Resistance in ensuring the success of this trial.

“Finally, we have a historic trial in a Swedish court where one of the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre has been on trial,” Lewis announced. He further reiterated, “I’ve also been representing [the Iranian Resistance] and trying to help them as a lawyer since 2004 when I went down to Ashraf number one to get the Americans to release them.”

Lewis asserted that the investigation presented at the Stockholm District Court surpassed any potential fact-finding commission in scope and quality. This case comprises over 11,000 pages of evidence, including names of Mujahedin victims from the 1988 massacre, materials from the JVMI, and books penned by Mujahedin members.

“The investigation presented in the Stockholm District Court is the best fact-finding commission that you can imagine,” said Lewis, emphasizing the quality and depth of the data being presented in court.

Mr. Lewis, praised the exceptional efforts made by his clients in Ashraf 3 during the trial, including the creation of a detailed model of Gohardasht prison and a film to help the court visualize the conditions of the facility.

“They made a model of the whole prison of Gohardasht, which the court, we showed to the court when we were in Albania,” Lewis shared, underlining the dedication of the resistance movement to illuminate the horrors perpetrated by the Iranian regime.

Lewis also acknowledged the Iranian regime’s attempts to discredit the Swedish legal system and the trial itself, calling their allegations of unfair treatment “hypocritical.”

He concluded by expressing hope for the trial’s impact, stressing its significance not just as a historic event but as a crucial step towards holding the Iranian regime’s leaders accountable for their crimes against humanity.

“The evidence presented in this trial is quite adequate to be able to put Ebrahim Raisi, Nayeri, Khamenei, all of them, and the 70 that the JVMI has, we can put them all on trial because these were people who saw them and knew what they did,” said Lewis.
