Speaking about the unity among parliamentarians, politicians, and the global community, especially from Europe, she praised their unwavering solidarity, stating, “Never before had we had such a big group of parliamentarians, politicians, of people from all over the world, especially in Europe, that helped us to get stronger.” This notable strength, she said, is evidence of their rising influence, even amid demonization campaigns against the Iranian Resistance and its supporters.
Prof. Süssmuth expressed profound trust in Madame Rajavi, citing her pivotal role in furthering the cause of democracy globally. “Madame Rajavi, we trust in you, and we know what you have done for your people, and not only for your people but for the democratic appreciation in the whole world,” she declared.
In her speech, Prof. Süssmuth acknowledged the hurdles faced by the Resistance. “As it has always been said, we are not weak. We try to be strong, but it’s not easy to get stronger when there are so many barriers,” she asserted. However, she underscored their ability to overcome such challenges through perseverance, belief, and collaboration. “If you have two or three strong personalities, that’s not enough. You have to find more, to invite them, as it was done today by several speakers,” she added.

We do not give up. We have come a long way. I was really influenced by good personalities, one of them is Madam Rajavi. She encourages us to say we will continue. Nobody is able to do it alone.#FreeIran2023… pic.twitter.com/uvjhFRfhtH— Iran Freedom (@4FreedominIran) July 11, 2023
The former German politician firmly denounced the atrocities committed against the Iranians, urging the world to remember the torture, killing, and undignified treatment of both genders. Yet, amidst these dark realities, she emphasized the importance of hope, resilience, and positive messaging.
Prof. Süssmuth ended her speech on a note of relentless optimism and resolve, reiterating her faith in humanity and encouraging cooperation over conflict. “And we continue, don’t stop to hope, to follow values, we need them,” she affirmed. Lastly, she appealed for continued support, as “it’s worthwhile to go on fighting, resisting, and giving good messages.”
Prof. Süssmuth’s impassioned speech resonated deeply with the attendees, adding vigor to the Iranian Resistance’s cause and reaffirming the global commitment to championing democracy and human rights worldwide.
