In a riveting address at the Free Iran World Summit on July 1, 2023, former Vice President Mike Pence voiced fervent support for a “secular, democratic, non-nuclear Iranian republic”.

His impassioned speech took place at the Headquarters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), where hundreds of world leaders, thousands of demonstrators in Paris, and members of the Iranian Resistance were in attendance.

Speaking as a private citizen, Pence emphasized, “The American people stand for freedom and the American people stand for a free Iran.” He highlighted the relentless efforts of protestors who have since September 2022, been striving to liberate Iran from decades of tyranny.

“We gather today here and around the world to express our support for the courageous protesters,” Pence said, calling on nations to support the brave Iranian people and to exert maximum pressure on the regime in Tehran. He expressed his confidence that “the people of Iran will someday be free.”

Reflecting on his tenure under the Trump-Pence administration, Pence emphasized their commitment to supporting the Iranian people. “We did not remain silent in the face of the Iranian regime’s countless atrocities,” he asserted.

The administration took decisive actions, including canceling the Iran nuclear deal, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard, and actively enforcing sanctions to limit Iran’s oil exports.

The former Vice President expressed concern over the current administration’s efforts to restore the Iran nuclear deal, warning that such a move threatens to unravel the progress made towards marginalizing the tyrannical regime in Tehran. “A renewed nuclear deal won’t lead to peace and stability,” Pence declared, urging the Biden administration to stand with the people of Iran and to halt all nuclear negotiations with Tehran immediately.

Pence hailed the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as a “well-organized, fully prepared, perfectly qualified, popularly supported alternative” to the current regime, and paid tribute to its leader, Maryam Rajavi. He also lauded the role of Iranian women in leading the decades-long fight for freedom.

"We stand with the proud people of Iran because it is right, and because the regime in Tehran threatens the peace and security of the region and the world,"

Pence ended his address by expressing hope for a free Iran. “We stand with the proud people of Iran because it is right, and because the regime in Tehran threatens the peace and security of the region and the world,” he asserted, envisioning a bright future that brings peace, prosperity, stability, and freedom for the people of Iran. “It’s been an honor to speak to you today at this historic gathering,” Pence concluded, praying for a free Iran.
