On the eve of the annual Free Iran rally, a renowned group of politicians and experts gathered in Paris for a conference discussing the situation in Iran, the threats of the mullahs’ regime, and international policy toward Tehran.

The conference, consisting of separate panels, explored four major topics: disinformation and its impact on Western policy on Iran, the alternative to Iran’s regime, the U.S. policy toward Iran, and the European policy on Iran.

In the first panel, Struan Stevenson, former Member of European Parliament, shared his experiences of dealing with the Iranian regime’s propaganda against the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). Meanwhile, Candice Bergen, former MP and Leader of the Canadian Conservative Party, spoke about being attacked by Iranian ex-pats for participating in a women’s rights conference organized by the NCRI.

Louis Freeh, former Director of the FBI, addressed the political motivation behind the U.S. designation of the MEK as a terrorist organization. He called for free speech and open dialogue regarding the Ten-Point Plan of Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the NCRI.

Ambassador Lincoln Bloomfield Jr., former Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, spoke about his investigation into allegations against the MEK. He reported that all accusations were debunked upon a close examination of the evidence. Steve McCabe, member of the House of Commons of the UK, stressed the regime’s reliance on misinformation and violence.

The second panel discussed the alternative to Iran’s regime. Former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli dismissed the notion of reforming the Tehran government, while Linda Chavez, former White House Director for Public Liaison, praised the Iranian Resistance for its consistent determination. Tony Clement, former Member of Parliament from Canada, and former U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman, both commended the democratic vision presented in Madame Rajavi’s 10-point plan.

The third panel explored U.S. policy toward Iran. Former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey shared his involvement in lifting the MEK’s terrorist designation.

Ambassador Robert Joseph, former Undersecretary of State, highlighted the Iranian Resistance’s role in exposing the regime’s illicit activities.

The fourth panel examined European policy toward Iran. Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, former Vice President of the European Parliament, criticised EU’s appeasement approach, noting it has been dominated by two illusions – the existence of moderates within the regime and the prospect of negotiation leading to a calmer Iran.

This insightful conference provided a platform for distinguished international politicians and experts to discuss the issues concerning Iran and formulate strategic alternatives, serving as a critical step in shaping global policy toward Tehran.
