The majority of representatives in Bremen expressed unequivocal support for the Iranian people’s pursuit of a democratic republic that stands firmly on the principles of religious and state separation.
“For the past six months, the world has witnessed a sweeping popular uprising in Iran, demanding freedom and democracy. While any change should come from the Iranian people and their own resistance, the international community has its own responsibility,” the statement read.
Endorsing the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Ten-Point Plan for a future Iran, Bremen’s MPs asserted that “no individual, regardless of their background or bloodline, should have undue privileges over others.” The Plan, championed by NCRI President Maryam Rajavi, proposes a vision for Iran rooted in free elections, freedom of assembly and expression, abolition of the death penalty, gender equality, autonomy for ethnicities, and a non-nuclear state.
Reflecting on the bravery of the Iranian people, the statement commended, “The Iranian people’s courageous uprising can be attributed to the explosive state of Iranian society, a product of suppression, poverty, discrimination, and government corruption, and, on the other hand, four decades of nationwide organized resistance.”
The statement by Bremen’s representatives condemns the Iranian regime’s incursions in the Middle East and Europe, including alleged terrorist attempts and cyber-attacks in Albania.
It ends with an urgent plea for the international community to support the Iranian people’s struggle for change, recommending decisive steps against the current regime, including the blacklisting of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and holding regime officials accountable for their crimes against humanity.
