Recently a dissident group named “GhyamSarnegouni” has released a series of classified documents that outline the Iranian government’s decision to grant 190 hectares of public land in Khorramshahr, Khuzestan province, to the Atomic Energy Organization.

The previously undisclosed transaction was reportedly orchestrated by Ebrahim Raisi’s administration, indicating an escalated commitment to the regime’s nuclear projects.

The released documents, which were purportedly accessed during a server breach of the presidency organization in May, spotlight a contentious discussion regarding the land grant. The revealed correspondences suggest that an unidentified party has questioned the Atomic Energy Organization’s entitlement to receive the land, leading to a request for a meeting to deliberate on the matter.

A notable element of the disclosed documents is a letter, dated April 4, 2023, addressed to Mr. Eslami, the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, from the Secretary of the Legal and Judicial Commission, Hassan Moradi.

The letter underscores the issuance of a license for the transfer of the land parcel to the Atomic Energy Organization and urges Mr. Eslami to review the minutes of a Dispute Resolution Commission meeting held on July 22, 2020.

The meeting minutes demonstrate that local officials were supportive of the land transfer. Moreover, it evidences the approval of 1240.0870 hectares of national and non-national lands, although the context and exact details remain unclear. These leaked documents provide a rare insight into the Raisi administration’s handling of public land allocation and its dedication to advancing nuclear projects.

Critics have expressed concern over the extent to which the administration is willing to bypass public scrutiny and legal processes to favor the Atomic Energy Organization.

The revelations are likely to incite international scrutiny and could potentially rekindle tensions concerning Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Given the secretive nature of these transactions, the global community might need to reassess its stance on Iran’s nuclear developments.

GhyamSarnegouni, the dissident group responsible for the leak, remains steadfast in its pursuit to shed light on the Iranian regime’s opaque policies and controversial actions.
