On Sunday, February 12, more than ten thousand freedom-loving Iranians, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) gathered in various locations around the world, including the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia, to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the Iranian people’s historic uprising against Shah’s dictatorship.

The uprising led to the establishment of a democratic republic in Iran under the leadership of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh in 1951. However, the democratically elected government was overthrown in a coup d’etat orchestrated by the CIA and MI6 in 1953, which led to the installation of Shah’s regime.

The anniversary event organized by the NCRI was a strong message to the Iranian regime that the Iranian people are united in their desire for change and democracy. The participants held signs and banners calling for the overthrow of the regime and for the recognition of the NCRI as the legitimate representative of the Iranian people. They also called for the release of political prisoners, including the thousands of MEK members who are currently held in Iranian prisons.

The anniversary event was also an opportunity for the participants to hear from speakers who have been instrumental in the struggle for democracy and human rights in Iran. Among the speakers were NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani. Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the Iranian regime is in its final days and called on the international community to support the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and democracy. Giuliani, who has been a strong advocate for the MEK and the NCRI, emphasized the importance of recognizing the Iranian opposition as a legitimate alternative to the regime in Tehran.

The anniversary event was also an occasion to pay tribute to the thousands of MEK members who have given their lives for the cause of democracy and freedom in Iran. The participants held a moment of silence in memory of the fallen heroes of the Iranian resistance, whose sacrifice has inspired a new generation of freedom-loving Iranians.

In conclusion, the anniversary event organized by the NCRI was a powerful demonstration of the Iranian people’s unity and determination in their struggle for democracy and human rights. The participants made it clear that they will not rest until the regime in Tehran is overthrown and a new democratic government is established in Iran. The event was also an opportunity for the international community to hear from the Iranian opposition and to show its support for the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom and democracy.
