Online Conference

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) representative office in the United Kingdom held a virtual conference over the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran, calling on the world community to immediately intervene and prevent further bloodshed.

The Representative of the Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in the United Kingdom held an online conference regarding the rapidly deteriorating the situation of human rights in Iran.
Dr. Matthew Offord, Conservative MP for Hendon; Steve McCabe, Labour MP for Birmingham, Selly Oak; Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras former vice-president of the European Parliament; and Tahar Boumedra, former Human Rights Section Chief of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq; and Kimmo Sasi, Finnish politician and lawyer and Hossein Abedini, NCRI’s Representative Office, spoken at the conference.

The first speaker and moderator of the event were Hossain Abedini, from NCRI’s UK representative office;

There is another wave of secret executions inside Iran’s prisons. The international community must stand with the people of Iran to secure their fundamental and inalienable rights and freedom.

Iran’s regime violates intl human rights laws. Yet the intl community has failed Iran’s people & allowed the regime to enjoy impunity by not holding regime officials to account.

The next speaker of this event was Dr. Matthew Offord, Conservative MP for Hendon;

I would like to see the UK government and other governments reimpose sanctions on Iran. It’s a disgrace to allow the regime to purchase weapons and give weapons to its proxies.

Iran regime’s resorting to torture & execution is a clear sign of its desperation. It is a great regret that NavidAfkari has been executed. I would like to see the UK reimpose sanctions on Iran.

The next speaker Steve McCabe, Labour MP for Birmingham;

Navid was forced to confess in the most brutal fashion. It is obvious that the regime has decided to defy the international community and is deaf to what the world is saying.

The brutal and secret execution of NavidAfkari gives us a sense of what is happening in Iran. It’s not enough to condemn their actions, It’s time to toughen up the response.

It’s time to consider more serious consequences. This includes expelling Iranian diplomats, even the ambassadors, and closing embassies and ending diplomatic relations.

UN should demand an investigation of the 1988Massacre You can’t let them get away with impunity. A UN team must be able to visit prisons in Iran and examine the conditions of prisoners

The next speaker Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras former vice-president of the European Parliament;

The execution of Navid Afkari was not condemned by the EU as a deliberate political execution. It was condemned as a death penalty in general. This is weak & allows the regime to continue such executions.

The international community must take urgent action to stop the execution of political prisoners in Iran. This is a clerical regime that executes people to stay in power.

The next speaker Tahar Boumedra, former Human Rights Section Chief of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq;

We have a track record of the behavior of the judicial officials in Iran where through kangaroo trials they executed political prisoners in 1988. Men, women, and even children were subjected to this torture.

The UN must stop recommending action. The matter has to be referred to the UN Security Council to take firm action.

The current legal and judicial system in Iran must be abandoned if Iran’s regime wants to join the UN. Action must be taken immediately to save lives.

The situation is very dangerous. It is common practice in Iran today to torture political prisoners to extract confessions. It is time for change to come to Iran.

The next speaker Kimmo Sasi, a Finnish politician, and lawyer;

The European Union must put human rights first, and all other things second. They must look the truth in the eye and put sanctions on Iran.

The UK must stand against Iran. We need punitive actions. And of course, it makes no sense that arms are sold to Iran. The leaders of Iran must know that human rights violations have a consequence.

The UN must investigate and go to Iran and look at the cases. But the case of Iran must also be referred to the UN Security Council and sanctions must be effected.
Urgent action

The MEK’s new revelation once again shows the large scale of these protests and the regime’s brutality.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK Iran) released the names of 56 more martyrs of the November 2019, uprising, bringing the number of identified martyrs to 811 out of over 1500 who lost their lives.
